Pastor JD Webster

Hello,

I'm Pastor J. D. Webster.

For 13+ years it has been my privilege and honor to live in the community of Westchester and serve as the pastor of this church. When I first arrived here I told people I was "a preacher." Now I tell people I am "a pastor,"

While those two terms are often used interchangeably they are, for me, very different aspects of how I see ministry. "Preacher" speaks to a gift of oratory. Having spent a number of years as a radio and TV personality and and also as a broadcast administrator one would have reason to expect skills in that area.

"Pastor" for me, speaks to relationship with those who hear me speak. Without a meaningful relationship with my listeners the "preaching" may be interesting, informative, and even helpful. It may not, however, let people know that when they are in the hospital, grieving, or just want a place to talk, they can call me or stop by the office even if they don't have an appointment. The people of this church have helped me to grow into that kind of relationship. For that I shall always be grateful.

I tell you this because it is that kind of relationship, congregant to congregant, congregant to pastor, that we emphasize here. We don't always do it perfectly. We do work at doing it better and more consistently. That, by way of illustration, is what we mean by being a "living laboratory" faith community.

While striving for quality in every way, we are more about celebrating the effort and less about the perfection of that effort. Our vision is to intentionally be more about growing and developing and less about unblemished presentation. We want this to be a safe place to be authentic in who we are today, knowing that with intentional effort we can be more whole and more complete tomorrow and in the days ahead.

As this site becomes more robust you will be able to read about our theological and practical perspectives. Those are important bits of information because they are the tools that help us be the more that we believe Spirit calls us be.

As you read this information please know that we are all, regardless of how long we have been on this planet or involved in this faith community, "Works in Progress." If this sounds like the kind of place  that would be of interest to you, by all means come. Visit with us and allow us to get to know you. We would be honored to have you join us in the walk towards eternity.

Thanks for your time.

God Bless.
