This Week At WCC! -More About "Our"
Matthew 22 speaks of "loving others as we love ourselves." Another verse in scripture speaks of "forgiving others as we forgive others." What does that mean, really?
Why is it so hard to love? Why does hatred come so easily? Maybe the answer has to do with habits connected to a recalcitrant determination to paint God, humankind and life in general only within the box of our hard and fast expectations. Jesus points us away from isolating ourselves in our own black-and-white interests so that we may experience the fuller colors of that love which creates covenant accountability in relation to God and neighbor. This may very well overwhelm us. But if we forego resistance and surrender to the sacred rush of that love which Jesus teaches and embodies, we will discover ourselves being formed, reformed and transformed by holiness that has no place for hatred.
Who is included in the “Our” that is spoken of in that sentence?
How does this perspective affect our voting and election plans?
What responsibility, if any, do we have towards others, regarding “our ?”
Join us this week as we explore this well known text as a basis for how we can live life more fully.
It is less about what to think!
It is more about what to think about!
In the "Messenger" we continue to publish an excerpt from "The Divine Plan"a small booklet by Glenn Clark. These excerpts may also stimulate your prayeful thinking about what it is you believe about that universal question: "Why am I here?"
