Denominational Vision and Mission

Vision: To be a faithful, growing¹ church, that demonstrates true community^2,8,9, deep Christian Spirituality³ and a passion for justice⁴. (Micah 6:8)

Mission: To be and to share the Good news of Jesus Christ^5,7, witnessing⁶, loving⁷ and serving⁹ from our doorsteps³ "to the ends of the earth³." (Acts 1:8)

The WCC Congregational Vision:

To be a local example of the vision and mission of the General and Regional manifestations our denomination.

The WCC Congregational Mission:

To be a visible example what it is to be:
A "Living Laboratory" Faith Community.
What Christ wanted the external community to see when he said "See how they love one another."
A faith community structured to be more about supporting personal growth through our Christian values and less about maintaining an organization.

At Westchester Christian Church we therefore:

1)      Are organized for growth personally and numerically. We have measurable methods that tell us how we are doing on this objective and will use that information to guide us in responding to the data.

2)      Continually work to understand what it is to be "community." We have measurable methodologies to evaluate our progress on this objective. We prayerfully act in accordance with this information.

3)      Are without apology "Christians only." Knowing that we are not "the only Christians" we welcome, appreciate and celebrate the diversity that is found in the worldwide Christian family.

4)      Continually seek to demonstrate evidence of our intent to be peaceful people concerned about peace and justice locally and globally.

5)      We know WHO and WHOSE we are.

6)      Graciously and with humility share with others what we have personally experienced in our relationship with Jesus.

7)      Believe that Jesus Christ was who he claimed to be and gave the gift of eternal life and abundant joy to everyone who chooses to receive it.

8)      Demonstrate in our personal and corporate lives that the 13^th chapter of Corinthians is a basis for life, not just a nice thing to read at weddings.

9)      Believe that "service above self" is a model for life.
