Lenten Call to Worship                                                           Elder

One: Lent calls us to journey along the edge, to anticipate that final trip to Jerusalem.

All: Lent calls us to the cutting edge, when life comes forth; the cutting of a new covenant.

One: Lent calls us not only to give up something, but also to take upon ourselves as a community the intention of true participation in the mystery of God-with-us.

All: Lent calls us to confession, accountability and preparation.

One: Lent calls us to concentrate upon our baptismal vocation to be a sign of the New Earth.

All: Lent calls us to face the darkness without holding a flashlight.

Lenten Prayer of Confession

Great and loving God, we invite you to restore us to covenant with you and to feast in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Help us now during this Lenten season to renew our lives in your great Spirit, and to look forward to the hope and promise of new life given to us daily in Jesus Christ.

The Prayer of All Disciples                                                      All

Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven. Give us our food for today, and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. And don't let us yield to temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen           (Living Bible Translation)
